Andrea Blanco

Online

Intern in Counseling

Andrea is dedicated to providing a nonjudgmental space where children, adolescents, and young adults can have the freedom to express themselves at their own pace. Growing up as a First-Generation Latina American, Andrea knows firsthand the pressures that can come with being the “first” to pursue higher education, the silent weight of generational expectations, and the often-unspoken emotional labor carried by young people. These lived experiences fuel Andrea’s passion for supporting children, adolescents and emerging young adults who are trying to make sense of their own stories, define their values, and break free from generational patterns that no longer serve them. Andrea understands the layered complexities of growing up between cultures—where the values of one’s heritage may feel at odds with the demands of a new environment and what it is like to balance discovering your own path with honoring your family. As a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish), she is motivated to helping clients who feel caught between worlds and reach for healing throughout the counseling process.

Andrea offers a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can take a breath, speak your truth, and begin to reconnect with yourself. Andrea views therapy as a collaborative, culturally affirming process—one that honors your story, your voice, and your identity. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, family dynamics, burnout, imposter syndrome, or self-doubt, Andrea will walk alongside you with kindness, curiosity, and deep respect for showing up for yourself. Andrea is willing to work together to build something that feels real and relevant to you. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, exploring your cultural identity, or trying to make peace with past experiences, Andrea is here to support your growth with intention, creativity, and motivation.

Andrea’s clinical approach includes somatic mindfulness, person-centered, and cognitive-behavioral strategies, with a strong focus on radical acceptance and lived experience. Andrea acknowledges that every client is unique and personalizes therapy to what works best for each client. Andrea takes into account how systems of oppression, current life events, and social expectations may impact your mental health—and actively works to hold space for those realities in our sessions. If you are someone figuring out how to take up space in a world that wasn’t always built for you—I see you, and I’d be honored to support your journey.

Andrea’s experience includes providing support for her University’s D1 Hockey Team alongside a Sport Psychologist. Before becoming an outpatient counselor, Andrea worked with young autistic children as a Behavioral Therapist using Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA).  This past year, Andrea worked for clients in psychiatric hospital settings across child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric units. Andrea also worked closely with families in their homes as an Intensive In-Home clinician, offering insight into how intergenerational dynamics can impact growth, healing, and communication. These experiences helped Andrea into developing a meaningful understanding of tailoring each session based on the present wants and needs of the client.

Andrea is completing her final semester at Liberty University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s degree program. She is pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and is currently under the supervision of Debra L. Rezendes, PhD, LMFT.
