Daniel J. Gibson
Daniel received his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University, where he also earned his Bachelors in Psychology with a cognate in Counseling. He is a Licensed Resident in Counseling, license #0704017160 which renews on 07/31 of every year. Daniel is under the supervision of Marianne G. Shirilla, MAMFC, LMFT, LPC-S.
Daniel’s experience counseling in community health and private practice settings, as well as residential treatment for children and teenagers, has given him a drive to develop deep relationships and to care for those with whom he works. He finds genuine connection and rapport to be central to healing and has worked with individuals struggling with depression, trauma, anxiety, personal faith, and PTSD, as well as couples struggling with communication, conflict, and disconnection. He is passionate about treating couples (premarital and married), teenagers, and adults, especially those struggling with loneliness, relationships, and trauma.
Daniel works with clients to develop shared goals and treatment plans to best meet their needs, and adapts therapy based on client feedback, preferences, and fit. He has training and experience in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion Focused Therapy, Attachment-Based Family Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and has received level 1 certification in Gottman Couples Therapy.
Daniel believes that the relationship between the client and therapist is the most important factor in creating change and healing and works to develop a safe environment to explore one's challenges and find the courage to face them. Daniel works with clients to make sense of their experiences and identify the root cause of the problem, addressing it directly while providing tools to clients along the way to exercise self-care during and beyond therapy.
