Liliana I. Cruz

Liliana has a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary. She is a Licensed Resident in Counseling, license #0704014571, which renews on 01/31 every year. She aims to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is currently working under the supervision of Marianne G. Shirilla, MAMFC, LMFT, LPC-S.

Liliana believes that therapy is an imperative, yet often underutilized, tool needed to navigate life. She wants to defame the Latinx cultural bias against mental health and therapy and bring awareness to the importance of mental health care for all. She is passionate about partnering with her clients and working to discover root issues that may hinder a person in their journey to embodying their best self. Liliana believes working together to identify and resolve these issues in a judgment-free, compassionate, safe, and private environment can lead to utmost fulfillment. She also employs a person-centered, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral approach to the therapeutic relationship, using techniques based on the client’s specific needs and goals. Liliana is also EMDR trained and uses this evidence-based, therapeutic method to guide her clients toward resolving issues stemming from trauma.

Liliana is fluent in Spanish and English and considers herself an intermediate-level Brazilian Portuguese speaker. Born and partially raised in the Dominican Republic while spending several years living in Curaçao and Brazil, Liliana’s background provides her with unique cultural sensitivity. She is driven to incorporate diversity in all aspects of the community and seeks to bring mental wellness to those who desire it. Though she holds a Christian worldview, Liliana respects the frameworks of her clients and will work to help them heal within their specific worldview.
