As a first-generation Afghan-American, Marjan is particularly passionate about fostering meaningful conversations around identity exploration and bi-cultural empowerment, as well as their profound impact on mental health and well-being. She values the intricacies of intersecting identities, understanding that no single aspect can fully encapsulate the richness of who we are. This perspective enables Marjan to appreciate and respect the diverse identities of her clients. Marjan tailors her approach to each client’s unique needs, ensuring that the therapy process is centered around individual experiences and goals.
Marjan has a Master of Science in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University. Before venturing into the field of counseling, she worked as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist. This role allowed her to work closely with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. Additionally, she has accumulated five years of invaluable experience as an assistant preschool teacher. These experiences have equipped her with a profound understanding of child development across various ages and backgrounds. Marjan employs this knowledge toward identifying and navigating behavioral patterns, facilitating effective communication, and actively listening to the needs of both children and their families. Marjan is open to seeing children of all ages from 4-18 years old, as well as young adults.
As you consider beginning or continuing your therapeutic journey, remember healing and self-discovery are processes that you do not have to go through alone. Marjan will show up with a heartfelt dedication to support and collaborate with her clients as they work toward well-being.
