Intern in Marriage and Family Therapy

Haley is an Intern in Marriage and Family Therapy currently pursuing her master’s degree from Abilene Christian University, with the goal of becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development, with an emphasis in Family Studies, from Missouri State University. Her educational and professional experiences have strengthened her passion for understanding individuals within the context of their families, relationships, and life experiences. As a developing therapist, Haley hopes to provide a compassionate, supportive, and relational approach that helps clients increase their connections, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change in their lives and relationships.

Haley has a special heart for working with children and families. Her background in Child and Family Development has given her a strong foundation for understanding the social and emotional needs of children, as well as the important role families play in their growth and well-being. She is particularly interested in parent-child attachment and the ways a positive, secure attachment can provide children with a strong foundation as they navigate life’s challenges. Haley hopes to help children feel safe, understood, and supported while partnering with parents and families to strengthen the relationships that are so important to a child’s development.

Haley also has a passion for working with teens and their families as they navigate the unique challenges of adolescence, identity development, relationships, and family life. She spent several years volunteering in youth ministry, where she worked closely with adolescents facing a variety of personal and relational challenges. Through this experience, Haley saw the value of active listening and strengths-based approaches in supporting emotional health, identity development, and thoughtful decision-making. She also learned the importance of creating a safe environment where teens can be themselves while maintaining healthy boundaries and encouraging open communication. This experience continues to shape her desire to create a space where adolescents feel heard and valued while also recognizing the important role family relationships and support can play during this stage of life.

In addition to her work with children, teens, and families, Haley is interested in supporting young adults and couples who are preparing for marriage. Young adulthood can be an exciting and pivotal season filled with new freedoms, opportunities, careers, relationships, and possibilities for the future. For some, it is also a time of preparing to build a life with a partner. Haley believes that investing in a relationship before marriage provides couples with a meaningful opportunity to better understand one another, strengthen communication, and build a strong foundation for the future. As a Prepare/Enrich Facilitator, she is able to use this valuable tool to help couples identify their strengths, better understand their relationship, and explore areas where they may have opportunities for growth.

Haley has also had the fortune of living in several countries, lending to a passion for travel and experiencing new places.  Her cross-cultural experiences have given her a deep appreciation and respect for diverse values, beliefs, and worldviews. These experiences have shaped her curiosity about people and strengthened her belief that every individual’s story and perspective deserves to be understood within its unique cultural and relational context.

Haley is currently seeing clients primarily on an in-person basis. If you are interested in working with her, she would be honored to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges, strengthen important relationships, and work toward meaningful growth and change.
