Daniel J. Gibson Telehealth In Person
Licensed Resident in Counseling & Licensed Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy
Struggling in relationships? Relationships are part of us as much as our personality and identity are. Relationships problems often become personal problems, and personal problems often become relationship problems. Daniel helps individuals, couples, and families untangle these complex challenges through counseling for preteens, teenagers, and adults.
Daniel provides a safe, comfortable space to explore and understand personal and relational challenges at their root, guiding you toward healing for yourself and your relationships. He believes therapy works best when it is cooperative, when client and therapist are working towards the same goals to create change. Tailoring treatment to each client allows Daniel to meet the needs of individual clients in comfortable ways. He has found success working with clients struggling with a variety of issues like life transition, post-traumatic stress, family conflict, depression, anxiety, addiction, low self-esteem, relationship conflict and disconnection, parenting, and more.
Daniel’s practice is informed by training and education from his Master’s program in Marriage and Family Counseling, as well as experience working in residential mental health treatment, community health, private practice, and academic research as a Graduate Assistant. He has training in family, couple, and individual therapies as well as specialties in trauma focused therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) that allow him to address a wide variety of personal and interpersonal challenges. Daniel also utilizes SYMBIS programs for premarital counseling to help couples establish a strong foundation and learn important relationship skills for marriage.
Daniel has a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. He is a Licensed Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy (License # 0730000752) and in Counseling (License #0704017160) which renews on 07/31 of every year. Daniel is under the supervision of Marianne G. Shirilla, MAMFC, LMFT, LPC-S.

Daniel 's Strengths
Authentic
I work to be my genuine self with you, that you might feel comfortable taking a courageous step to be yourself and allow me to meet and help the parts of you that you don’t show others
Curious
I am genuinely interested in getting to know you, and fostering curiosity allows us to explore what is facing you with a nonjudgmental spirit willing to learn without flinching or shying away from difficult areas.
Calm
I will work to make the therapy room a place of calm, where difficult emotions and topics are not overwhelming but manageable, and you can find a way to create that peace in other areas of your life.
Humorous
I make every effort to find the joy and humor in life despite the difficult experiences we might discuss and hard emotions you experience – in laughter we know we are understood and seen, and everything feels lighter, easier
Humble
I will probably make mistakes and you will too, but I am always willing to learn and I think you are going to teach me as much, if not more, than I will teach you. Therapy is a journey of exploration we take together.
