Intern in Counseling

George works with individuals, couples, and families to help them find their way out of depression, anxiety, and other struggles that keep them stuck. He knows how overwhelming it feels to be stuck in an endless cycle of stress, pain, and uncertainty. If anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles are weighing you down, he’s here to help you break free and uncover those life-changing “aha” moments.

George views counseling as a collaborative journey, where every conversation is an opportunity to connect. He is dedicated to working with you using evidence-based treatments that have been shown to foster healing and growth. Whether through cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness strategies, or other empirically supported interventions, he tailors your sessions to meet your unique needs and experiences. He believes that by working together with intentionality and purpose, we can create a space where you feel empowered to overcome challenges and celebrate each success along the way.

George brings over a decade of leadership experience and extensive community service to his practice, having worked with individuals in challenging circumstances. Volunteering has always been close to George’s heart. He has years of church volunteer experience, including serving in the Young Adult, Communications, and Outreach ministries. He also helped establish a nonprofit that supports families and orphans facing tough circumstances, offering resources that address their physical, emotional, and social needs.

George is completing his final year in the Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Liberty University and plans to pursue licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He is working under the supervision of Marianne G. Shirilla, MAMFC, LPC-S, LMFT, and Dr. Debra L. Rezendes, PhD, LMFT. He immigrated to the United States from Egypt at the age of six and has lived in Northern Virginia most of his life. Additionally, George is fluent in Arabic and would be happy to offer counseling in that language for those who prefer it.

Everyone deserves to live a joyful life. George is here to help you reconnect with yourself, reclaim your happiness, and strengthen the relationships that matter most.
