Licensed Resident in Counseling

Jason Nguyen is a Resident in Counseling pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. He earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Military and Veterans specialty from William & Mary and practices under the supervision of Marianne G. Shirilla, MAMFC, LPC-S, LMFT and Rebekah Hsieh, MA, LPC-S.

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply seeking support through life’s challenges, Jason strives to provide a compassionate and collaborative space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. He works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity concerns, and relational difficulties. He understands how easy it can be to become stuck in patterns of stress, self-doubt, and uncertainty, and believes meaningful change begins with feeling safe enough to explore those experiences.

Jason has experience providing individual and family-based counseling for a variety of concerns, including mood disorders, behavioral challenges, and relational stress. His work has focused on helping clients strengthen emotional regulation, deepen self-awareness, and develop healthier patterns of coping and connection.

His therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while remaining responsive to each client’s unique values, culture, and life experiences. Jason believes that meaningful change often begins with small insights that lead to those “lightbulb moments,” creating lasting growth, healing, and resilience.

Outside of counseling, Jason enjoys exercising, hiking, and spending time outdoors to stay grounded and manage stress. He also brings over three years of experience serving as a youth group leader at a Vietnamese church, supporting adolescents in their emotional and spiritual development. Born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia, Jason is fluent in both English and Vietnamese, allowing him to connect with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Jason looks forward to walking alongside clients as they pursue healing, navigate life transitions, and build lives that reflect their values and goals. Wherever you are on your journey, you do not have to walk it alone.

Jason offers therapeutic services at a rate of $205 for the initial intake session and $185 for follow-up sessions. Although insurance reimbursement cannot be guaranteed, Jason accepts Aetna, Cigna, most Virginia Anthem BCBS and CareFirst DC Capital Region plans, including FEP Blue, as well as out-of-state BCBS plans. All in-network insurance is billed through his supervisor. Statements for out-of-network reimbursement are available upon request.

Jason is currently accepting new clients.
