Paul W. Sarigianis
Licensed Resident in Counseling
Paul completed his graduate work at Dallas Theological Seminary’s counseling program (D.C. campus) and is currently a Licensed Resident in Counseling, license #0704014298 which renews on 09/30 every year. He is a former Naval Officer, consultant, civil servant, and graduate of the C.S. Lewis Institute’s Fellows program for discipleship, where he felt led to pursue professional counseling. His goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He works under the supervision of Marianne G. Shirilla, MAMFC, LMFT, LPC-S.
Paul believes that healing occurs within relationships built on trust, empathy, and commitment to a shared goal. Since college, he has helped those in his sphere of influence, both adolescents and adults, during times of trial and transition. Currently, he offers counseling at a reduced rate to men, women, and adolescents. The following are some of his areas of concentration: men’s issues, parenting issues, anxiety, depression, marital issues, codependency issues, life transitions, relationship issues, emotional healing, military issues, spiritual issues.
Paul will apply an integrative therapeutic approach, using techniques that are based on the specific needs of the client. In order to address issues at their root, Paul will work to help his clients identify and attend to these issues in an environment of safety and privacy. He holds a Christian worldview, though he respects the worldview of any client, and will work to help them heal within a framework specifically tailored to their needs. Paul is also EMDR trained and uses this evidence-based, therapeutic method to guide his clients toward resolving issues stemming from trauma.

Paul 's Strengths
Nonjudgmental
I want to meet you with compassion and acceptance, right where you are, not where you think you should be.
Adaptable
I strive to be open to the healing process looking differently for each client, and therefore will use the therapeutic intervention I believe will be most helpful to you.
Inquiring
Through questions and observations, I want to help you peel back the layers of your internal self, what’s most meaningful to you, and how you want your life to look in the future.
Emotionally self-aware
I want to help you recognize, understand, label, express and regulate your emotions in order to enhance your self and other-awareness.
