Sharon Leukert Telehealth
Licensed Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy
Many things in our daily lives come with user manuals, but unfortunately, life and relationships do not. Navigating the complexities of emotions, connections, relationships, and personal growth can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. We can create a space to help you move from merely surviving to truly thriving in life and your relationships.
If you found your way to this page because you are curious about change and how things could be different, you have already taken an important step, and I want to support you in your journey. I am honored to help individuals, couples, parents, and families live more authentically and find greater joy. Trained in Narrative Therapy, I help clients escape their problem-saturated stories so they can overcome the internal stories and societal pressures that keep them stuck. As a Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy, I am also uniquely trained to honor my clients’ individuality and help them explore how their relationships and family dynamics have affected their experiences.
When working with couples, I help both partners identify and understand the underlying emotional patterns that influence how they interact. Using a combination of The Gottman method and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), I help couples learn to recognize and express their emotions more openly and vulnerably, creating a safe space for connection. For couples recovering from infidelity, I understand the ways that infidelity turns the world upside-down for individuals, couples, and families. The feelings are strong, raw, and painful. The fear that things will never be exactly the same as before can be overwhelming. I offer a safe space and a process that aims to re-establish trust and connection in couples recovering from infidelity. I also work with individuals to support and empower them as they heal, no matter what their role was in infidelity.
Before pursuing residency in marriage and family therapy, Sharon worked as a journalist in both a small-town setting and as a program director for a small faith-based television network. After Sharon devoted years to raising her family, she wanted to help people change their stories rather than just reporting on them. She brings wisdom and experience from her own upside-down moments in life and relationships. Sharon has experienced what happens, both as a child and an adult, when it feels like the only choice is to follow along with the story already written for you by others. She also knows what it is like to make changes, sometimes restructuring those stories to make them her own, and sometimes leaving unhelpful traditions and expectations behind. Her dream is to support clients with compassion, dedication, and direction as they take ownership of their stories.
Sharon has a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from NorthCentral University. She is a Licensed Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy (License # 0730000780) which renews on 1/17 of every year. She is also certified in Telemental Health (Certification # BC-TMH 3760). Sharon is under the supervision of Debra L. Rezendes, PhD, LMFT.
